  • Valentine's Day Donations to Family Crisis Center for Women and Children

    Many women and their children will spend Valentine's Day in the Family Crisis Center as they are fleeing domestic violence.  Zonta Club of South Bay member donated Valentine's gifts to brighten their day and help with their needs.  We donated packages of underwear and gift bags with toiletries and gift cards to Target.  No one should suffer and Zonta International makes it a priority to end domestic violence.
  • Celebrating Amelia Earhart with Zonta Club Newport Harbor Members

    South Bay members joined with other clubs for the Zonta Area 4 workshop in Newport Beach, celebrating Amelia Earhart.  Amelia Earhart was a Zontian and Zonta International and all clubs celebrate her by providing scholarships in her name.  We were fortunate to have Flora Mechentel, the 2017 Amelia Earhart Fellow, speak to us about her experiences working a Jet Propulsion Laboratory.  Wonderful day filled with friendships.
  • Survival Kits Donated to Redondo Beach Police for Martin Luther King Day

    The Redondo Beach, CA police's community outreach department put out a request for Survival Kits for the homeless fulled toiletries, socks and stuffed, animals to fill 1 gallon ziplock bags.  Members purchased and assembled 50 Kits to be handed out by the police department on Martin Luther King Day.  They were so very appreciative of our efforts and we had a good time at our meeting assembling the bags.

    Zonta Club South Bay members adopted a family with needs for the Christmas & Holiday season and fulfilled the wishes of the a mother and her children.

    Who is Eligible? Women, aged 16-19 on 1st April each year, living in a Zonta district/region, who demonstrate evidence of the following, are eligible to apply.

  • Chloe Hwang, Winner of Zonta Club South Bay YWPA Scholarship

    Zonta Club of South Bay President, honors Chloe Hwang of Torrance, CA with a check and  Certificate for Zonta Young Women in Public Affairs, Scholarship.  Chloe is attending South High and was chosen for her achievements as a youth volunteer, guiding other young women and girls in STEM and teaching young students violin while maintaining excellence in academics.

    Chloe Hwang, recipient of the Zonta Young Women in Public Affairs Scholarship selected by Zonta Club of South Bay, was honored during our May meeting with a check and certificate in honor of her community and volunteer services, including teaching children to play the violin.
